Is This One Word Killing Your Business?

A little Business Musing... I’ve been guilty of it, and I am sure you have to. You are scrolling through Instagram, flipping through Pinterest looking for inspiration, and instead you find yourself 1. Creating a massive list of all of the things you need to change/ update/ do or 2. Immediately feel overwhelmed by the weight of what you wish your business could be.

Comparison.

It is so difficult to not feel overcome by comparison in the business world. We are surrounded by others who are successful, who are also doing what you are doing. The comparison trap is ugly and difficult to claw yourself out of. It is inevitable at some point we will all find ourselves sucked into its power however there are a few things we can do and remind ourselves of when we feel as if we are drowning in a sea of comparison.

  1. Don’t try to compare your beginning to someone else’s middle

  2. Don’t try to compare your everyday to someone else’s highlight reel.

  3. Be mindful to celebrate your successes!

  4. Make goals (realistic and measurable) and make a plan to help bring those goals into a reality.

  5. Take a break! Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself and your business is to take a little break. Self-care comes in all shapes and sizes and for you, one version may be deleting social media for a few days for a refresh.

I absolutely love the process of building meaningful brands and connecting with other small business owners. I love stretching my creativity and learning new and unique ways to showcase businesses.
